I really don't understand why people such as yourself honestly believe that the landings were faked. I cannot identify where the specific points of intellectual departure lies
We all agree that the men who flew these missions -especially the commanders -were excellent , experienced , and fearless pilots
We all agree that all the crew members were well educated men and in some cases held advanced degrees.
We agree that men can do space walks and live to tell the tale.
We all agree that prior to 7/20/69 seven unmanned missions had made successful soft landings on the moon.
Two by the Soviets ; Luna 9 & 13 and five by the Americans; Surveyor [s] 1, 3* 5,6, & 7
We all agree that unmanned spacecraft still make landings on other planets
We all agree that it was pragmatic to send a machine to check out a place before you commited a man to it. Both the Americans and the Soviets took this rational approach.
We agree that 9 Saturn V / Apollo combinations made it to the moon[ Apollo 8 and 10 -17 ] and that 8 of those orbited the moon the only exception of course being Apollo 13.
We all agree that 9 command modules endured a fiery 25000 mph re-entry
Look at the Apollo Command modules they are markedly different from the Mercury and Gemini spacecraft
So I ask you again , given all those facts especially the unmanned landings where is your point of departure from believing that it's true ?
Then there is a whole list of things that can't be faked.
On Apollo 10 while accidently spinning 50,000 feet above the lunar deck in the LM, Gene Cernan said some bad words into an open mike and NASA got complaints from a concerned citizenry. You can't fake stuff like that ,the man was clearly there and clearly in danger
The picture of the late Pete Conrad standing next to Surveyor 3 with the LM clearly visible in the background. Not only was Conrad there but he brought a piece of surveyor 3 back.
The lousy pictures from Apollo 11 showing Neil Armstrong decending the ladder of the LM.
If it was faked ,we would have had better pictures.
lastly the LM itself. The LM was a productof an engineering need . Read all the science fiction you want , see all the movies about landing on the moon which were either written or made prior to 1961 and you will not find a LM or Lunar orbit rendezvous.
The classic method was to have a big rocket leave the earth , land on the moon and return to the earth as a big rocket. The public would have expected it and the public would have bought it
But the LM ?
Nobody had ever envisioned an ungainly craft with tissue paper thin walls, no seats and two windows as the vehicle of choice for man's first exploration of another planet. The LM was the world's first true manned space vehicle and it's form was a result of it's function.
In a million years Hollywod would never have come up with that design ; an engineeer did because an engineer had to and therein lies the ultimate proof of mannned moon landings.

I think Area 51 doesn't exist; it is the product of people's overheated imaginations. In the old days, they used to think that if you sailed far enough west, you would come to a point where you fell off the edge of the world. On the maps, they put "here there be dragons". But they were uneducated. Belief inArea 51 is the same, today. No sensible person believes in it.
The moon landing was real. There are three types of reliable evidence. The first two concern material, the third concerns the testimony of reliable witnesses and accurately calibrated instruments.
1) Moon rocks we brought back. We have other Moon rocks that were not brought here by humans, they were ejected from the moon by meteor impacts and then fell to Earth. Reputable scientists the world over have examined them and confirmed that they are the same age, composition, type, etc, and that they were formed under the same conditions, which do not exist anywhere on Earth.
2) Artifacts we left there, like the laser reflectors which another answerer mentioned, and the radio transponders of the landing stages of the LEM's etc. They had to be precisely positioned to operate correctly, so they were not just dumped from orbit.
3) The Soviets tracked our spacecraft on their own radar system and watched us land and take off again. They were our rivals in the Space Race, and they would genuinely have loved to humiliate us by telling the world that we faked it. They would have if they could. But they knew we made it there. They watched us, and they saw it, through their own instruments.
The flag was flapping when it unrolled due to a metal spring that was included to hold it out extended. It was flapping when the LEM lifted off due to the exhaust gasses (temporary atmosphere) blowing past it. Any more questions?
Tell everybody you know that we did land on the Moon.

I think some of the photographs are indeed fake. For example, why should the American flag be fluttering when there is no atmosphere on the moon? My opinion about this is that fake or doctored photographs were created for propaganda purposes, to have elements such as the unfurled flag missing in the real photographs. The actual surface of the moon is not that exciting to look at. This doesn't necessarily mean that the landing didn't take place.

I don't think the moon landing was staged, why? Simply it doesn't make sense to fake that. Regarding Area 51, i do think top secret stuff is being researched there

I cannot possibly fathom such a massive lie persisting for so long.
If the footage of moon landings that we are so accustomed to seeing were faked, this would constitute a conspiracy so vast-- involving hundreds, possibly thousands of individuals.
I don't believe you could cover up such a lie like this.
Why would we need to lie about this? The saturn rockets built by NASA is tremendously powerful-- Millions of pounds of thrust. It is easily capable of boosting a capsule into space. Simple physics modeling can plot a course for the moon.
Accomplishing this goal presented huge obstacles and mind bending delemmas. But the fact that we landed on the moon, proved that the problems were surmounted. A feat so astounding that we should be giving praise--NOT SKEPTICISM.
Sure questions should be asked. But lets keep them somewhere south of absurd.
I'm all for free speech, but this notion falls in with the same folks who say that our government planned September 11, 2001 attacks, and others' still who say the NAZI's never tried to systematically exterminate millions of Jew's during World War II.

If you think of all the time, trouble and manpower it would have taken to fake the whole bit, from rocket through manpower, engineering and design and on an on....
It actually is simpler to go to the moon than fake it. Sometimes the easiest and cheapest way to 'fake' something is to just do that thing.

Of course not. There's no way they could've faked it. I could go on and on about why not (cuz i've argued this point before) but watch that history channel episode. They talk about it in detail but the end product is that we really made it. I mean think about it, we have spaceships that go to planets and satellites already up in space. Why couldn't we make it to the moon? There's no way it could be faked.

What do i think, well maybe I'll do you one better and say i don't even believe in the space shuttle or the international space station, heck all that film footage could be made with computer graphics, and if you believe that then i got some lake front property for sale in the Sahara dessert.

The prismatic reflector that the astronauts left on the moon is used to this day to measure its distance from the earth, which distance is increasing (due to effects of the tides) at about an inch a year.
