When I went last year I just walked around. It was by far the best way.

I live here in Barcelona and I would advise getting just the bus touristic ticket. There are many stops and you can buy a one-day ticket or two-day ticket. You get to see all the great sights and have a good look around. I wouldn't think that the queues will be long at this time of year (I haven't seen the long queues anyway) another good thing is that they give you give discounts on entries to places. If you want to avoid paying over the top prices, don't call at any of the bars on La Rambla - the prices are way over the top! Why not call into one of the little streets leading off (around Plaça Real) the food is better quality too.
If you're going next week then you'll be just in time for the sales as they start on Monday after 'Kings' day celebrations'

Have a great time!

Depends a bit on your budget. If it's tight, public transport and free mp3 audioguide
The Barcelona highlights include
1 Montjuic Hill 2 Miró Foundation 3 La Boquería Food Market 4 Las Ramblas Avenue 5 Barcelona Cathedral 6 Palace of Catalan Music 7 Santa Maria del Mar (Church) 8 Park de la Cuitadella 9 Olympic Port 10 Sagrada Familia 11 Casa Mila 'La Pedrera' 12 Park Guell

but if money doesnt matter, you save time with the bus.

Some of the bus stops are really boring and you sit there for up tio 10 minutes. If you are on top, you can get sunburnt and hot and bothered.

Go early as the lines get long at peak periods and especially at Plaza Catalunya.

You will need to buy a 2 day tourist ticket there are 2 bus routes and loads to see, you wont have enough time to get off at every stop, All cathedrals a must, ramblas, gothic square, and the palace and the nue camp if you like footy. And its a big place, no way could you do it on foot, a wonder down the ramblas on foot maybe.

I think using the "Bus turistic" is one of the best ways to see the city. As some people have said, there are two routes (north and south).

Take a look at this article about Barcelona, it will give you some ideas of places to visit:-

As you are only going for 3 days it might be a good idea to book an official tour so you don't miss anything.

Use one of your days to do the full north/south tourist bus trips, you will then be better able to choose where you visit on foot the next days.
