Hate is a learned response not a trait. The fact that people tend to hate the same things that their family members do just goes to show that we pass our fears and insecurities to the people close to us. These fears and insecurities are what in the end turn into hate.

If that behavior is what a family holds to be the truth, then yes I say its a family value of theirs.

It can be.
It's something that's passed down from parent to child.
Hate is mostly a learned trait, not something you start
out with, so yes..I believe it could very easily be a family
value. Not the best of choices though.

Most conservatives i talk to don't hate gays they just view homosexuality as a sinful behavior (you know that whole love the sinner hate the sin thing) they don't really want to know if you're gay or not they really don't care.

I don't see the logic in saying however that you want less government intrusion into daily life BUT you want government to make a preference in declaring marital status.

unfortunately some families do have that as a value that they teach their children

if that is what the family embraces, then it certainly is. It is destructive and negative, but it can be passed along to the kiddies as easy as compassion and non-judging habits can be.
