I am a M2F transsexual and know I am an awesome person inside/out. What appears to be hard is the fact that in my home town everyone ends up knowing my past and seems not interested in any form of relationship other then just being friends. I am young, smart, and think I look attractive enough and yet I can see no light with having a good relationship. What should I do to find someone who I can have a relationship with?

P.S. The relationship I want is with a man.

P.S.

I just can not up and move away as I own my home, have a 7 year old child, and have all my family and friends here in my home town.

Hey there.
I'm a woman in a relationship with a pre-op M2F. We met through some mutual gay friends, and we hit it off straight away. In our situation, it was our involvement in the queer community that allowed for us to meet, and I think that would be a great place for you to start. Queers have always been supportive and understanding of gender bending, and therefore you can be honest about who you are/your past without being afraid of judgment or hostility. In regards to wanting a man - when my partner and I go to gay bars together, she's always having turning away interested men. I think it's often bisexual men that are the most interested in her, as she fulfills their desires for both men and women. But fetishism aside, I don't think there is anything that you 'should' do in order to find someone to have a relationship with, the most important thing that you can do is love yourself. Like every single woman out there, you will find your perfect match eventually. But I would definitely recommend that you link in with your local queer community - it's probably the best way of meeting open minded and accepting people.
Oh, and a side-note from my partner - have a look at www.tvchix.com
Good luck!

living in small towns can be a pain.. everyone knows everybody..

you might be best to either relocate, or at least find websites where you can meet people from other cities. chicago, san fran, toronto, all are major cities that are very tolerant of alternative sexualities. lots more people who would be open to dating you and accepting you for who you are.

i had a little peak at your website and blog. i just wanted to congradulate you as i bet this entire transition thing was quite the challenge for you. especially in terms of emotions. i think it is awesome to see how much you love your son.

sounds like you are a great person and a great parent. keep up the great work, and good luck with your search for love.

i've been trying to find love all my life, and haven't gotten anywhere beyond a 3 month relationship, so i know how frustrating it can be to be lonely.. stay positive and focus on the things you can control in life, and hopefully the rest of the cards will eventually fall into place...

Eventually you'll want any potential partner to know your past. Its part of you. Any man who loves you should love you for you, and it should not be an issue. Try connecting to the trans community through the internet or conferences (my personal favorite is the Translating Identities Conference www.uvm.edu/~tic), or local community centers. If you're in a rural area, you'll probably have to head for the city...

You seem to have self confidence, and that is awesome! Don't lose that! Just remember, you are worth it, and don't settle for someone just because they're ok, just keep looking for the best! you deserve it!

Too bad you want a man, otherwise I'd say come to Chicago honey. Actually, I'm gonna move to San Fran soon cause I hear they are just completely accepting of all types of people out there. Chicago is a pretty nice place too, in certain places. I actually just saw a play out here with a really hot MtF in the show. I think I'm in love with her.

you can always go to foreign places and meet very nice people. foreign places are the best because no one there will ever know anything private about you unless ofcourse you tell them! an example of a foreign place would be the philippines where 15% of the citizens are tourists living there. when they see you there especially if your caucasian, they will think your a movie star. who knows you may even become famous if you tell them the truth.

good luck!
