How fast do the court room transcriptionists type?

In the business world 80 WPM with a 90+ correct rate is faster than average.
You wouldn't measure court room reporters by that standard as they are using typewriters specially made to type shorthand - stenotype. The required minimum speed for a court reporter is 225 WPM.

I typed 30 wpm, with two spelling errors. I used to type 60 wpm on a teletype machine. I thought I typed faster now than when I was young. So I am slowing down. I tend to type so fast, I make more mistakes and then go back to fix them. I will have to try this again later, and just keep typing when I do make a mistake. This was a test I'd wanted to do for years. And I'm glad I finally got around to it.

No because I can type 150 wpm and 80 compared to 150 is a total difference of 70.

considering I type with two fingers and about three correct words a minute without typo's I'd say that 80 words a min would be like comparing the speed of a tricycle to a boxter-s porche....LOL

FYI.......It took me 7 1/2 mins to type this

LOL, no 80 CPM isn't fast. Even 80 CWPM isn't fast.

Many people I know can type 120+ and I can type a hair over 80. Most data entry specialists or those you see typing in court can reach 140 or more.

80 is about average

Fast...pretty fast actually...not sure about the courtroom though. One way to practice would be to listen to a pre-recorded speech of something, and try to type what is being said.
