People reach out to God when they are losing the balance in their lives. When people make bad decisions and lose control of their worlds they mentally transfer control of their lives to a higher power. It absolves them of guilt for their own actions, it allows them to blame bad things and good things on the will of another therefore removing the stress and confusion that comes with self responsibility. It is actually a mental defense. Problem the way religion was created in the first place. It is easier to explain all the good and bad things in life as being part of a paternal growth plan.

I don't believe God is concerned about why people come to Him as long as they do. It seems like many people only depend on God to get them out off the messes they get into by ignoring Him. I find if I don't have a quiet time of prayer each morning, my whole day seems off somehow. When I start out the day thanking God for the blessings the day will bring, I can spend the whole day watching for them and thanking him as they occur.

That's the problem!!! The only reason (most) people ever go to God is because they are in some sort of trouble. It's a problem because then this shows they aren't true Christians, but they are selfish and only want help when they need it.

Because when their lives are going fine they want the only limits on their lives to be their own and not imposed on them (e.g. by the Bible), but when the chips are down they know Who can definitely help them. People don't feel safe with God all the time because they want the good without the responsibility.

I think we tend to go about our lives and take things for granted when life is going along ok. Then when something bad happens we immediately turn to God for help. I try really hard to thank God every day for all of the blessings He has given me, but sometimes we get busy and forget. But when trouble comes we remember Him right away. I think this is something we could all work on.

I think that soe people don't really believe in God untill they are in trouble. I mean I use to not believe in God I just went to a cathloic skool but I still didn't believe in him. Now I him to be apare of my life bec. he has done so much for me and my family. So I think that they just turn to God just bec. they know that God has helped so many other people. So they think that if they turn to him when they need him the most that a merical would just happen when the need iut the most.

Most people take God for granted when things are going well. When their life turns the opposite way they reach out in desperate attempts for anything to cling to - mostly God. Its like a criminal being arrested and going to jail. When in jail they suddenly claimed to have found God. God becomes their salvation until turned loose again. Funny thing about finding God is, I never knew he was lost.

Think of it in terms of a relationship with a parent. Once you are out on your own when do you think of Mom and Dad? When things aren't going well. Not everyone is like that in their relationships with their parents, some have close, loving relationships and others want nothing to do with them, ever! This is similar to all the varieties of relationships people have with God. Good parents long to have a lifelong close relationship with their children and so does God.

Because it's easier for some people to put God in a box and bring him out in case of emergencies. When everything is going good we don't think we need any help.

God created emotional & phisical pain so that we would call apon Him. God also created His law(the Ten Comandments) so that when we do sin(and we are all sinners) we feel Guilt and will call opon him for help.God does not expect us to not be sinners. Sin was ushered in with Adam & Eve. All God wants is for us to come to him to ask for forgivness when we do sin.
