i can't decide whether i should go slightly down-state for college, or stay here and live at home and go. i like both schools, but if i lived at home i could have free meals and laundry and stuff, but i want the experience and freedom of being away from home...what do you think? also if i got homesick, the down-state school is only like an hour and a half away.

Learning to live on your own is one of the most valuable things you learn at college.

Unless you plan on living at home the rest of your life.

I would definatly say go away to school. My school is only an hour and a half away from my parents, and I bring my laundry home. It's still free! They also like that I'm out of their hair, but I still come home every other weekend. Going away will also help you be more independent and make more friends. I love all my roommates!

If you can swing it financially, particularly if the school away is a better school academically, I'd say go away. It's a wonderful part of your life, college/living away from home/on campus, and you should experience it.

You'll learn more about being independent, time management, studying skills, people skills, etc. It can be scary at first, but soon you'll find yourself with many friends and activities.

As you say, you can always visit home given its closeness....and in the worst case, you could transfer back to the close-by school if you had to.

You should definitely go to the one an hour and a half away. You should learn to be independent, but you can still drive to do your laundry or whatever. Don't stay at home! It's not going to be good for you. Going away will be better and will develop your independence.

I think you should go away to school. Get the whole college experience. You miss a lot when you live at home and attend. Also, you need to get used to being without mommy and daddy. You need real-life experience!

how are you going to smoke weed everyday if you live at home? don't forget about all those keggers, too.

you really need to think more carefully about planning your college career!
