I hope they are getting you a second opinion.
Anxiety and stress masks under alot of other things, and can be mistaken for bi-polar and depression also when you are anxious you get to where you cant think or make decisions which is where the add falls into play.
So as far as medications go The docs should really know what they are trying to treat before you become a guneia pig there is no wonder drug that is going to fix all your medical or mental problems.

In any case, therapy is recommended whether or not you choose to take medication. Some can live on therapy alone, and others need the two to go hand in hand. Every person is different. Meds may assist you in the healing process, but they are not to be treated as a solve-all to psychological issues. Therapy can help you to better understand the inner workings of what you are feeling, but it will only work if you are willing to consent to it. Just about any psychiatrist will recommend talking about and confronting your problems before prescribing medication as it can carry a risk of dependency, meaning that the patient would rely on the pills to run away from their problems instead of dealing with them. Don't misinterpret me though. Some people actually do need medication for their problems. Pursue therapy first before making the decision to take medication. Only a psychiatrist will be able to determine if you really need it.

I would get a second opinion with the other problems. I wouldn't try taking something for sleep without talking to my doctor first. Whatever you take could react wrong with the medicine you are already taking. Also some of your current medicine may be the reason you aren't sleeping well. You may want to check to see if it is a side effect of your current medicine. Either way talk to your doctor before taking anything besides your current prescribed medicines
