The average woman loses 17-18 pounds on the delivery table. Between the baby (average weight in the US is slightly over 7lbs.), the placenta, amniotic fluid, change in blood volume, etc., much of the weight is lost when she delivers. A woman who breastfeeds will have a hard time keeping weight on because lactation (producing milk) burns TONS of calories. It also causes the release of a hormone that causes the uterus to continue to shrink, so women who breastfeed get back to pre-pregnancy shape much faster. We recommend that women gain about 24lbs during pregnancy. That's enough to provide for all of the necessary things during the baby's development, but not so much that labor will be more difficult on an overweight mom. A mom who follows these guidelines will lose the baby weight fairly quickly.

No. Women lose weight at all different rates after giving birth. Typically, a woman will lose 10 lbs within the first 2 days, for obvious reasons. Most of my friends did not lose more than that for months. I was one of the lucky ones and did lose 20 lbs. in the first 2 weeks and was back down to my pre-pregnancy weight within a month.

the healthy way is to lose 3 pounds a week, if you don't eat anything that is possible, because your body is trying to find alternate ways of getting energy. also, you can cut off a leg or arm or something. there was this new magic pill they called it on the news. if speeds up metabolism without doing anything so they lost weight. subject lost 12% of their body weight (not all fat, some muscle and maybe bone) in 48 days.

Honestly, I lost that the day I had my son. You lose a LOT of water during the birth, and then the weight of the baby...which is USUALLY somewhere over 6 lbs. So...you do lose quite a bit pretty quickly.

Yes, it is true. You lose alot of water weight, but in order to keep losing weight, you must walk or exercise moderately each day. Do not overdo it, because you just gave birth.

Give or take, you have to remember that the bady is about 6 lbs, the amniotic fluid is another 4 lbs or so, and the placenta is a few lbs itself. Then your not going to be hungry those first few days.
Poof your light again.
