I am a singer with 15 years of experience and I finally have the time and money to make a demo. Is it okay to make a demo with an existing song, or is it better to do it with original material?

It depends on whether or not you want to market it. If so, an original song will benefit you better in the long run. No hassles with publishers. If you are looking to audition for a club, manager, or record company, then an existing song may be best cause it's familiar to that person. And besides that, you are showing you vocal quality compared to the original artist. Hope this helps.

I'm sorry...but the question you should be asking is what are you going to do with the demo?
