1. muffler stock/ or hypo 2. two 2" clamps u-style 3. a sawzaw & a metal blade. lift the car and secure on jackstands. take the saw and cut the muffler off from the tail pipe(as close to the muffler as possible/on both ends of the muffler) then you will have to free the sleve in the tail pipe so you can insert the new muffler.once you have done this to both side you can insert the new muffler connect the tail pipe back reattach the new clamps and there you go.you will probably have to resecure the hanger once you insert the new muffler. go go cat

Drive it to a shop. lol If you take it to a shop they will charge you about $100. bones for the muffler not counting labor or if you need a new cat, that will cost you even more. If you do it your self you can buy a muffler for cheap. It's easy. If you have ever used a hack saw you can change the muffler.

I have a 1994 Taurus and I took it to the shop to have them take a look at it--and I did too. Hole in centre pipe--soup can an a clamp saved me $400 and I had some soup for lunch. No guff.

Its easy as they say, IF, you have a lift, an impact wrench, an oxy-actyelene torch. If you don't your going to be laying under the car in the cold busting your knuckles.
See if there is a Vocational High School or some sort of trade school in your area. If there is you can get done there basically labor free, its worth a look.
