When we visit other countries we try to learn their language. Would that be to much to ask of them, Learn the language of the people? Other countries don't accommodate to people as much as the U.S. does, at least on the East Coast.

When we visit other countries we shouldn't have to learn their language, Why? Because English is the 2nd most used language all over the world. It would make more sense for them to learn English because it'll bring great use to them. If they want to visit Canada/Australia/U.S/U.K they'll be able to communicate with people, not just thosr countries there are many many more who speak purely english.

Most kids in other countries are taught English in school.

Spanish/English are the most used Languages in the United States/Canada. So I suggest people start learning Spanish if they only know English.

Spanish is a very easy Language to learn, So is Portugese and Italian. All latin languages are easy to pick up.

I have to agree with you on this. Each time I call a customer service line for anything they either speak spanish first or as if you want to continue in english. Most jobs these days require that you speak spanish or another language. It's good to speak another laguage but I shouldn't be denied a job because I can't speak spanish. Especially if the majority of the people I'm dealing with are english speaking people. I feel like if your gonna live, work, attend school, etc learn the language. You can't go to other countries and not speak the main language.

Because our government encourages them not to. My ancestors came here and learned English. Immigrants coming here today would also, if our politicians were not putting signs in public buildings, instructions on voting material, and messages of all types in languages other than our common language, English.

I have nothing against legal immigrants. They have the same right to come here as my ancestors did, but they need to learn the language and assimilate. My discontent is with our politicians, and their multicultural endeavors. How can we expect immigrants to come her and become Americans when our own politicians aren't

If people want to live with the advantages of this great country, they should learn English!

I wouldn't go to Spain and complain that they don't know English. It's their country with their language.

I only speak English, which I am ashamed of. I now live in a Spanish speaking country, so I've bought a CD course to attempt to learn the lingo. It should really be a condition of entry for migration.

Because every other countries language is simpler than English, a word is a word and only that...a sound makes only one sound. It takes years to properly learn English so to have it required would be a waste....no one wants to take over half there life to learn a language
