what sci/fi novel do you think tops it???

If you haven't read this book, take it from a librarian of 26 years..it's going to blow your mind........

The Stars My Destination by Alfred Bester.

Bester writes deeply.

Niven, Larry wrote 'hard scific' with P. Anderson's works I think the asteroid-hits-earth themes was done very well.

"Rama" series (3 books, maybe fourth?) (author ??)


and yes some 30 yrs back it blew my mind :)

Right now, I would have to say "Footprints of God" by Greg Iles. I'd give you some idea of the plot, except I can't and have you experience it as it must be experienced.
And oh my God, you're right. "Demolished Man" is incredible. "tension,apprehension and dissension have begun" Actually got turned on to "Demolished Man" by its mention in a Dean Koontz book, "Key to Midnight" in which that phrase is used to help maintain a hypnotic block in a brainwashed person. Nicely done, huh?
