I remember when this rumor came out. The story was a little boy was murdered in the apartment where the movie was set and when the little boy's mother watched the film she saw his "ghost" in the picture. Of course everyone had to rent the video then to see it. Turns out it was a publicity cut-out of Ted Danson that, I think, was suppose to be part of the set (he played an actor in the movie). Made for some good topic of conversation at the time and made the movie some money.

this a post i got from an imdb board about this movie.
it's by this user called postbox-5 (just so i don't plagiarize)
"You have to look at the footage, I'm a Professional Offline Editor, and the shot was on the tracking system, they was no cuts in that scene, when the camera was panning from left to right away from the window, and following the actor's, then when the actor's started to walk from right to left, and their stopped, at the same point were their started from, they was a little boy standing there. If anybody thinks that it was the Ted Danson cutout, you all need to go to specsavers other words, get your eyes sorted. Why is the director trying to cover this up, people are not stupid, we see for what we see, and that little boy is a ghost. Studied the old video tape and you'll will see, don't take my word, find it out yourself. you believe if you what to believe. If you slow down the footage, you can see, a orb forming, and a shot gun, cannot turn into a orb. Please have a opened mind, and think for yourself"
hope that answers your question. if it doesn't you can read the whole board. here's the link (make sure you have an account on imdb)

A boy was murdered, but the murder was never solved. The boy's mother saw the ghost and went to the press about the movie, saying that it was the ghost of her son.

I remember years ago watching this movie and my friend and i seeing the "ghost" and the story that they boy jumped out of the window and died, but if you look closely its a cardboard cut out...nothing to worry about, just a rumor that went around.

Supposedly, The little ghost is a boy who committed suicide with a shotgun on set, If you look closer you can see the gun. Although like most of this stuff it is more likly an urban legend

The "ghost" is actually a cardboard cutout of one of actors. It was left by crew members who thought of it as a joke.
