Yes, I'm assuming your credit is bad after loosing the house. You will need to hunt for apartments in the classified ads and possibly craigslist.org. You're looking for smaller apartment building instead of large complexes. The large complexes will almost certainly be running credit checks and deny you if your credit is bad. You may even be able to get in to a large apartment complex if the bad news has not been reported to your credit yet. Act fast.

Most apartment places require a credit app. Although your credit is probably not great, you can talk with the leasing agent and explain your situation. Each app will cost 100-300$ even if you get declined, but you may be able to get in if you pay a few months ahead of time and impress them that way.
