Highly recommend it.
I've done it a number of times internationally. The packing is a pain, but the end result never disappoints.
You end up with a bigger-than-usual pool of friends, and experiences that you'd never have otherwise.
The first time can be scary -- especially if you go far away and/or adopt a totally different lifestyle, but give yourself 6 months, and you'll find no trace of homesickness.
Lifestyle and locale changes are some of the best ways to appreciate the human race, and they help you learn tolerance of the foibles of others. Something that will serve you well throughout your life!
Caveat: Be sure that you're running TO something (however ephemeral), not AWAY from something. Personal baggage rarely gets left behind.

Yea, I did.
I lived in the city, all my life. I work there, eat there, live there.....The city life is so fast-paced and stressful. And the crime-rate is pretty high too.
Then, I had enough. I decided to move somewhere more calmer and pleasant environment. I moved into Aix-En-Provence, France. I quitted my job in the legal firm and just packed and moved.
But it wasn't that sweet. When I first moved in, I had no friends yet. I didn't know anyone. And my French isn't that fabulous either. I had a culture shock. But, I got a friend who helped me throughout the way. He thought me French and even teach me the local culture. Then, he introduced me to more neighbours and friends.
I don't have regrets anymore...because the one who helped me has become my husband. And now, we're running a small cafe together....

Three or four times cross-country. Works out fine. I highly recommend it. You'll grow, learn, and have fun.
