My girlfriend and I are having a little fun, and my date says I was a virgo. She claimed I shared those traits, but you guys have said no. So, what am I? Here's a little more about me.(Written with her help, so it's not just my opinion.)
Ok. So, I'm intellectual. I'm 6'2'', 210lbs, 21 years of age, in shape. I am a violent person, I don't particularly mind admitting that. I'd never hit a girl, but I often really want to. (Blame that on the girls I know, sheesh. But I love them.) I do typically build walls around myself from people I don't wish to associate with, but who doesn't? At work, I tend to keep to myself. When I feel like it, I can be a cut up and get everyone laughing.
I own a German shepherd, I watch cartoons. I like action flicks, comedies, drama...I like emotional stuff, too, but I have to relate to it. I am not into fake personalities or pretending to be someone because it makes a situation more convenient. I don't like dressing up fancy, but Im told Im a sharp dresser. =\

VIRGO

"Your sign of Virgo is of an earthy nature and is representative of the sixth sign of the zodiac. You belong to a group of people known for their perfectionist and highly analytical minds. In a way, Virgos are misunderstood and this attention to detail and striving for excellence has in many circles given you a rather unusual reputation for being extremely critical. The fact is that you aspire to doing things properly, methodically through the work and service that you perform.

As you are ruled by the intellectual planet Mercury, you bring a clear and decisive viewpoint to any matter at hand. Others who may not be so precise in the way they execute their own duty find it hard dealing with you. In your own mind there’s no point in doing anything half-heartedly. Your critical eye, therefore, must express itself if you see anything less than acceptable.

Some people think you’re shy and unassuming but this is because your caution is simply your way of observing people and situations before jumping to conclusions. You certainly do have keen intelligence and a capacity for learning but prefer to make your decisions based on sound judgments and sufficient facts. When you do express your criticisms it is more than likely because you’ve analysed and summed up a situation quite correctly before doing so. While some people might find this an annoying habit, others will never hesitate to involve you in their work, social scene or even personal projects, as your expertise is highly valued. You make a wonderful impression with your skilful insights and broad-based knowledge. In other words you are a most interesting person to associate with.

Your keen eye may sometimes be turned back on yourself and self-criticism could become a very personal challenge for you. No matter what you do or achieve, it will never seem quite good enough for you. Others may praise you and encourage you for the good work and the excellence of your service, but you don’t really believe it, do you, Virgo? This may be expressed as fastidiousness and a constant distraction about cleanliness, hygiene and tidiness, although there are some Virgos who swing to the completely opposite direction and are sloppy and untidy. This is rare, however.

This preoccupation with outer cleanliness, order and method may be a compulsion, a distraction from deeper issues and opportunities that life offers. There is a vast difference between compulsive obsession behaviour and generally keeping things tidy. You must try to discipline your already evolved mind to understand the difference and relax more.

If you can overcome your tendency to high-strung nervous tension, an overly critical and precision-based interaction with others, you will enjoy your life so much more, Virgo. Allow yourself to imbibe the youthful, childlike and innocent qualities of your ruling planet Mercury, which is referred to as “a youngster” in Hindi mythology. This return to your innate innocence is the true symbolic expression of Virgo the Virgin. That purity and childlike innocence is what your true nature is really all about."

It goes by the birthday which apparently you have never given but, it is said people are governed by a few stars, not just the sun...

But the description to me of you isn't of a virgo, but more of a scorpio IMO.. get her to read the character and their flaws and you will realize it describes your feelings and such better as virgos can feel violent, not to the degree I find than a scorpio

update- Sorry misread it there first go around as I thought you didn't know if you were one or not.. But as others said, sometimes the moon and rising signs do affect us and we show the character traits of those sometimes in our actions...

Best thing may be to have one of those charts done to see what affects us.. that's why when you look say for matches, some that the websites say never will work seem to because of other factors in the readings

I had said the scorpio thing as most Virgos I know are not violent type people unless they are at a breaking point.

How you are on the inside is not how people see you
You would have to find out what your rising sign is and to do that you will have to know what time you was born : )

Your rising sign -- or ascendant -- reflects the zodiac sign that was ascending on the Eastern horizon at the moment you took your first breath in this world. This is why an exact birth time is so vital to finding your accurate rising sign. Located on the cusp of the first house of your astrological chart -- or at the nine o'clock position -- the rising sign can exert an influence almost as powerful as your Sun and Moon signs. If you were to think of your Sun sign as your soul -- your inner personality and potential -- and your Moon sign as your heart -- your emotional core -- then you could say that your rising sign is your physical self or the face you present to the world. For example, though your Sun sign might be Taurus, your rising sign could very well be Gemini. While you're feeling laid-back, others will tend to see you as a ball of nervous energy and cerebral wit.
At times, your rising sign may act as a mask, hiding some aspect of your inner self you don't feel like revealing.
What's your mask?
How do others see you?
Find out with your rising sign.
