There were actually 4 different versions of the beginning with Matt and the Man in Black.
1 - The scene shows more of a focus on Matt's behind and there is a white church or house on the street. At the end of it, it is almost like the camera is looking UP at Matt.
2 - The scene shows more of a focus on the gun in Matt's holster and takes place in the street with no white building in site At the end, it is more of a head-on look at Matt.
3 - In color, the focus is a combination shot of his butt and his holster, the camera angle is different and the end shows Matt with a balcony behind him.
4 - No shoot-out...just a stand-off with Matt and the Man in Black.
In addition, there is another opening that shows Matt riding his horse which was used in the early 70's.
