Hi,

I am new to electric stove, i just wonder what will be the real temp different between 1-10 of the electric stove. Is it true that the max temp for a electric stove is higher than a gas stove? Obviously i just "frys" my pan by using the max power of elec stove. What is the setting that i should use for normal cooking. thanks.

I had to switch from gas to electric once. 2 is good for low simmer. 4 is good for high simmer. 6 is good for just about anything when you're in doubt as well as - making candy (bring to a boil) slow fry like fried chicken - don't want to burn the house down - quick heat. 5 is good for keep it cooking but don't want to scorch the pan - like make spgahetti sauce but you'll be there to stir it (otherwise go to 3.)

6 is good over all for good heat.
3 / 4 is good for simmer quick.

It's like a clock 3 - 4 is low 5 - 7 is med. and 9 - 12 is high. Just like anything it takes time. It takes longer to heat up and longer to cool down than gas. Gas is instant on, off and more controlled than Electric. So, remember to think ahead, when it starts to boil it will take a minute or two to cool down to simmer once you've changed the settings. You'll get used to it.
