I always thought they were crap. My girlfriend thought they were just the utmost. Then she bought Violator and I saw the light. The way that album is put together is incredible. I reminds me of The Wall...

I don't usually consider myself a Depeche Mode fan until I thought about your question and then realized how much music and Depeche Mode have been a part of my life. I remember the song, "Just Can't Get Enough" playing at the danceclubs and how it reminds me of my g/f. And the song, "People are People" remind me of how easily I used to get into fights and how stupid it was. When I was sad and lonely one time a good friend sent me a mixtape with The Smiths, "There is a Light (that never goes out)" and the Depeche Mode song, "Personal Jesus"...those two songs helped me through that rough time. I guess if I tried to pick an overall favorite song today I might say, "Question of Lust"...and tomorrow I might pick, "In Your Room." Things change and so do my faves...I really want to thank you for making me think good and hard about Depeche Mode. I guess I really am a fan...and as soon as this Cure song ends I am going to play, "Everything Counts" (Live)...Thank you

I really like DM, they have such an intimate music, always wandering about the dichotomy between the soul and the body.

A lot of songs have reached me deeply depending on how life is going. The Ultra album is the best one for me because of the deep tone of the lyrics.

Useless is a song that is now pounding in my head a lot, but so have been Enjoy the silence, Clean, Strangelove and some others.

A good band always gives you something to relate in different times and situations, and this one just suits my appreciation of life perfectly

omg, no one said Policy of Truth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You had something to hide
Should have hidden it, shouldn't you
Now you're not satisfied
With what you're being put through
It's just time to pay the price
For not listening to advice
And deciding in your youth
On the policy of truth
Things could be so different now
It used to be so civilised
You will always wonder how
It could have been if you'd only lied
It's too late to change events
It's time to face the consequence
For delivering the proof
In the policy of truth

Never again
Is what you swore
The time before
Never again
Is what you swore
The time before

Now you're standing there tongue tied
You'd better learn your lesson well
Hide what you have to hide
And tell what you have to tell
You'll see your problems multiplied
If you continually decide
To faithfully pursue
The policy of truth

Never again...

My love affair with DM began in high school with Blasphemous Rumours, which is suitably depressing for that age, then i continued to enjoy all their music. Personal Jesus is another favourite. Great stuff.
