I think it's good that you are "asking" and not throwing a temper tantrum (like so many other 14 year olds would do) But sometimes you just have to understand that parents are from another generation and the only way to get what you want is wait until you are living outside of their home. Plus, even though a piercing can be removed and they are not normally "permanent", sometimes accidents happen. If your ring snagged and ripped your lip open, you WILL be left with scars and stuff (I've seen this with an eyebrow piercing) I refuse to pierce my face for this reason.
It seems like they are reasonable people and you have respect for one another. Maybe they just don't want to see their daughter's pretty face hidden behind a bunch of metal...try to see their point of view and give it a little time, maybe they'll change their mind, or maybe YOU will and be thankful they made you wait.

I'm a mom. And my kids have piercing galore, but they're all over 18. What I told them (except for ear piercings, just one)...NO until YOU are on your own.
I told them that because they were in band or sports. Too easy to get a facial piercing caught if worn while playing and get an injury. Plus I just didn't like how they looked. I'm a pretty conservative business person and preferred to teach the kids that most of that sort of thing wasn't necessary.
However, you may just need to be patient. I know a lot of kids with piercings and they're good kids too (like my kids lol). Remember most parents try to set some decent boundaries for their teens to teach them discpline and to be respectful of themselves and others.
If this issue will create arguments with your parents, I'd say drop it and forget it for now. If you still want that piercing when you're 18 and out on your own, you can still get it. Sorry...but that's being a parent.

You can't have it done in Colorado until you are 16, then you have to have a parent sign for you & some places make the parent be there also.
But what you want to know is not that. So here you go.
Get a ring that just slips on or a glue on dot that will look like what you want. Let them see it & they will think it's OK or not.
Also try to talk to them & ask them why they think you should not do this.
Good luck!

"Pretty much", don't get one. Most of my friends got one, but they let the hole close up. Why? 'Cause they figured it looked trashy. It really does. Asian parents also care about their reputation. What would your relatives think about your piercing? What would your parents' friends think?
If you get it pierced now, and take it out when you're around 16. There WILL be a scar. And that will be a blemish to your face forever!
Trust me, I used to be in the same phase. You'll get over it. Would you wear that piercing to work? No.
Guys your age might find them cool. But would they want to kiss lips with metal/steel? No! They wouldn't want to kiss you for fear they might hurt your lips.
If you want piercings, stay away from facial ones. That's what I did.

Not to sound like an old fogie but, your parents are right. Not because it's "bad", but because I'm sure you're a pretty girl and they don't want you to mess up your looks. You already have one piercing and the lip thing will make you look like you're overdoing it or trying to hard. You should chill until you're like 16 and then decide. Even a small feminine tatoo is better than a nasty lip piercing.

Wait until you are 18, get a job, move out, pay for your own shelter, food, health/car insurance, and clothes, then you won't even have to ask.
Until then, respect them, their home, and their attempt at raising you the best they know how. Besides, lip piercings look trashy, not cool.

Why would you want a lip piercing?
1. People will think you are "Punk"
2. You'll have a lot harder time later getting a good job because employers like profession-looking individuals, and lip piercings just aren't.
3. It would hurt like crazy, and you'd have to take care of it every day so that it didn't get infected.
But if you just have to have one, write a calm, nice letter to your parents and leave it somewhere they'll find it. Maybe they'll think about it at least a bit more if you do that.

Why??? Why would you want to have more piercings, especially on your face. When you get older and decide not to wear your piercings, you will have a big hole in your face. (not very attractive). I say forget about the piercings!
The day I turned 18, I ran out and got a tatoo, now I am stuck with it... I hate it! I wish I would have listened to my parents!
