30 gallons is ok provided your getting a bigger tank in about two months. I would get a 55 gallon minimum and preferably a 100 gallon or larger. Whatever you do, don't listen to waterboy's advice, everything he says makes anyone who knows anything about fish want to scream. I mean he is even trying to say you should mix a freshwater oscar with saltwater parrots. The 2 inch per gallon rule isn't right, it is usually 1 inch and that is a terrible rule to use anyway. Be good to your oscar and start big and if you want two I would start with 120-200 gallon. Think about you, where would you be happy, in a closet or a room? Thats the comparison between a 30 gallon and a 120.

A 30 gallon tank is OK for a young Oscar about 6inches long but as it reaches it's adult size of 14 to 15 inches long it will require a 90 gallon tank so it can swim around without having to constantly bend its body in order to get around.

NO! 55 gallons minimum for 1 oscar, and even that is stretching the limits of being too small. 75 is more ideal. Oscars grow 14-16 inches long.

It will work if the fish is still young and small, but you'll want to upgrade when it starts getting bigger. Mine is in a 100 gall. and does very well.

yes its fine but its going to grow and you might get bored with just one fish in the tank, try three or four parrotfish you would be happier, get a 55 if ya want oscars that way you could get more than 1 i had 3 oscars in mine for 3 years, and owned a pet store specializing in fish, typical rule is 2 inches per gallon i currently have 7 oscars in a 150 gallon tank that have been in it for roughly 4 years, doing great and you can limit their size by feeding them pellets instead of live mine are about all 9 to 11 inches long

If he's small, it'll last you a couple of months, and oscars grow FAST, so if you have one, be prepared to upgrade soon!
