Our economy which was booming with one of the biggest surpluses the U.S. had ever had is now in tatters. Our foreign policy which was pretty good during the Clinton years has dissappeared. Today we are the most hated country on a worldwide basis. The war in Iraq has become a disaster because of unbelievably poor planning on this adminstrations part. Under Bush, a huge corporate strangle hold was formed. Now lobbyists seem to control the actions of Congress. Freedom of speech has been limited by the Patriot act. The show "Politically Incorrect" was cancelled, revered newscaster, Dan Rather was forced to retire for reporting something which was true but unverifiable about Bush's embarrassing war record (or lack thereof). Our Environment is awful and though we have been found to burn more fossil fuels than the rest of the world, we did not sign the Kyoto Treaty (we and Austrailia were the only two not to sign). Recently it came out that Bush appointees had scientists reports saying the affects global warming would be devastating edited out (truly a horrific action).

Hi Pretty,
I think the 30% is an inflated figure.
Nostradamus made a prediction in one of his quatrains, that in the New World (USA), the Village Idiot would step forward to lead the people. . . . .
Prophesy fulfilled, . . . .and the Repubs can thank bush for losing majority in Congress and Senate to the Democrats.
In summary, you could say the losers who are still backing bush, are showing their intelligence quotient (IQ's) to be on the same level as bush's which is lower than whale crap, and that is on the bottom of the ocean.
The S is getting ready to hit the fan as bushy is refusing to turn over requested documents in an upcoming Congressional Investigation. The Democratic speaker of the house is talking subpoena's if they are not produced and anyone with half a brain knows that when you have the Congress of the United States of America on your tail, . . . . you are in heap big do do!
Bush is about to learn a big lesson about messing with Congressional investigations, something daddy never taught the decider.
There is a growing movement for Impeachment and the American voters, which in the Majority being made up of Democrats and Republicans are calling for Impeachment of bush and cheney.
I think we will see the 4th of July fireworks a little early this year.

Well, I think George W Bush is the kind of guy you could have a few beers with, BS with the guy, and just hang out with. However, as the leader of the free world, I am really upset about it. Outside of the television and media I don't know him. Therefore, I don't hate the man, I just hate the job he is doing.

I was really going to give a serious answer to this question, but I read all the other answers...and most of them were so amazing, that there is really very little I can add. But, thank you all for speaking out, and I think you all deserve 10 points. And I have to add that the question deserves 10 points as well. If we are lucky, maybe his approval rating will go down to 15% really soon, and even get to zero, by election day!

That's not much worse than the other Bush or Clinton during the best of times. That's because Bush Sr, the Republicans and Democrats are basically equal now. So during the best of times, Bush would get at best 50% support. Don't be surprised that future presidents get ratings about the same as Bush Jr.

The trouble with the ratings poll(as with almost all polls) is that the questions are posed in such a way to get the results desired.
Also the number of people polled is not a true representation of the people.
In my life time,I have been surveyed about a president once (Jimmy Carter). One question I was asked was about government spending and how he was doing. The answers were not relevant because the president can't spend any money,it has to be appropriated by congress.
Also the results depend on who is asked. If you poll 60 known democrats and 40 republicans the the poll will be tilted against a republican president no matter what is going on.
With telephone surveys, you have no way of knowing if they person marked your responses correctly or not.

It means that people are out of touch with reality when they say that. People often claim that It took years after he was out of office that people appreciated Lincoln (not true by the way- he was a hero to the nation virtually instantly after he won the civil war. Most people didn't like how he was handling the war at first, but things got better quickly.
What sickens me is when they think he's going to be considered the greatest president of all time.

What would you think of a President with a 23% approval rating?
Worst President of all time? Failure to the office?
Disgrace? Terrible? Worst rating since the gallop polls have been kept?
Harry Truman's approval once dropped to only 23%, the lowest level of any president in the Gallup data.Followed by Richard Nixon at 24% before he resigned then Jimmy Carter who hit 28%,
Harry Truman scored 87% in April, 1945, following FDR's death and during the final stages of World War II.

Something is wrong--we are fighting a losing battle in Iraq. They don't want us there, they don't want Democracy and the only "winners" of this "war" are the big corporations that put Bushie in office to begin with. People are finally waking up and I hope the Democrats that have taken over the house have the balls to do something about it!
