I'm moving from Quebec to Alberta (about 2500 kms) in the end of this month. My boyfriend is flying out ahead of me so he can get the house ready for me, meet the movers there, go shopping for the furniture that will need replacing, all which I'm very happy about. However, I will be driving the distance with my big dog and bearded dragon (can't bring either on a plane.)

Does anyone have any suggestions to make the drive easier? my back is already killing me. I will be 18 weeks the week of the move.

Even if he came back to do it with me, he doesn't have a liscene. And yes, the move was planned before I got pregnant.

I moved from Mississippi to Maryland when I was 5 months pregnant with my last child.
The best advice I can give is to take lots of breaks. Try to stop every few hours and get out. Walk around. Go to the restroom. Get a bite to eat, but try to stay away from junk food...it'll tire you out faster.
Also, look into getting a lower back support pillow. Or just have a regular pillow that you can roll up and put behind your lower back. (A 20 oz water/soda bottle sometimes helps too!)
And, I don't know how long your trip is, but if it's longer than 10-12 hours. Do try to stop for the night. A refreshed and energized driver is always a safer driver than one that tired and stretched thin.

Good luck with your move!

Speak with your doctor in regard to travel of this distance.

Be sure you have a way to stay in contact with someone should you need help.

Drive at intervals that are comfortable for you and the baby.

Take your time and get plenty of rest prior to and after the drive.

Be safe!

God bless!!

Frequent stops to walk and stretch out. The dog would enyoy the walk, too.

Do nothing. You can do very light lifting and light cleaning. Other than that, you shouldn't be doing much at all.
