They said the same thing about JFK being Catholic.
I'm no cheerleader for the Mormons but I don't think it should matter what religion he is.

That is the least of the Romney problems. He came to Massachusetts saying he was in favor of women's choice, that he was going to apply the principles of management to running government, that he was glad to be in a liberal state, and that he supported gay marriage. When the idea of running for president took over his mind he renounced all of those ideas. He spent most of his time outside of the state telling conservative groups that the people in Massachusetts were stupid liberals and that their ideas were worthless.

You're right. It shouldn't matter. However, we have been governed exclusively by (but for JFK) White Anglo-Saxon Protestant men - WASPs - for the past 240 years. No Blacks, no women, just rich White guys. Mormons have a substantially different belief system than most Americans, regarding some very basic issues - not to say their view is better or worse or anything else. Just that people are afraid of change in a position as important as this. Would you want a Jew in the White House? How about a Cherokee? I think your question is a very important one, and illuminates the dark heart of our system of governance. We should all reflect on your question.

As if I care if Mitt Romney was a Mormon! HE did great things for the state of Massachusetts. Even the education level was improved under his governship. He also passed a bill to arrest illegals to bad the new democratic governor is cutting that bill out!!

I don't think it is any more of a problem than having a Mormon Senate Majority Leader - Senator Harry Reid (D-Nevada).

But since Senator Reid and Governor Romney are members of different parties, I am sure they will be treated differently in the media.

In order to get elected JFK had to say he is the President first and a Catholic second. I absolutely guarantee that Romney will never say the same thing. We need a president who will be able to give 110% regardless of what happens in there personal and private life.

You are very right. I'm a mormon but I am very respectful to other people's religion. I think it would be wise to put in a man who has good values and a belief in god. It would do our country good to have someone with a foundation, something our country was originally founded around.

Seriously...who cares? Mormons really aren't any different from other conservative Christian groups when it comes to social issues.

After six years with a chief executive who is a "Moron," having a "Mormon" would be the least of our worries.
