Would appreciate attorney, and or paralegal to respond.

I work at an office where there is a non smoking law. You have to be 30 feet away from the building. Several employees continue to ignore the signs, and continue to light up. Myself and several coworkers have made complaints to the correct source, however, the person in charge, is a smoker themself, and fail to do anything. What other options can we pursue legally? We are fed up.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

To all your negative responses, I thank you for your insensitivity. I have multiple Sclerosis, and am wheel chair bound, so it doesnt make it that easy for me to get around. At least I am trying to work, and function, with little left I have.

I smoke, and I have no problem with smoking away from a building, I don't care if it is 1000ft. and winter. Smoking is a major health problem all over the world, and in my mind, if you smoke, don't pollute others.

1#You need to call the local police department and report them.
2#Lodge a complaint against them with your local or state Health Department.
3#Write a letter to the editor in your local newspaper.
4#Go about filing a report at work, read you employee manual, get the facts on how to do this, after you do this and nothing is done, get a lawyer.

These are the steps I think you can take to help, might not make you boss friendly at work, but what is your #1 priority, work or your health?

I think you need to call the paper on this one. An employer is to follow their own laws, and enforce implementable laws given by the state. That is the problem with this world today. No one wants to follow rules and regulations. No accountability for your actions.

I hope you take it all the way, glad to know that someone at least isn't sitting back and going to accept it. If people started demanding that these laws be enforced, this country would be a whole lot better.

Let's just hope that those that responded just to insult you just for wanting to breathe clean air choke on their own filth one day.

That said, I would call the local health department, and see what advice they can give you.

To the rude smokers - breathing is a necessity for life. You cannot choose whether or not to breathe. Nobody is creating a problem by wanting to breath clean air. Smoking, however, is a choice. And smoking creates a problem by putting filth into the air that others are forced to breathe.

I hope too that all the insults received by those creeps, one day, have something that really bothers, them and they are slammed with insults. It is different if it is something that infringes on their rights. It is too bad that those individuals aren't the one sitting in the chair. Maybe then they would have compassion. My brother has MS, and I know how difficult it must be for you. Just hang in there, and follow the suggestions by My Lord. Good luck to you.

Honestly, you've run us outside almost everywhere and now you claim so many feet of air space outside. I'd like to propose a law that there's no cheap perfume/cologne in elevators but ...

Thanks for the points! Smokers pay inordinate taxes,,,, maybe that should be repealed and see how some of the things you enjoy are paid for! Move 30 feet away from the building and stay away from those who smoke.
