At 24 he is certainly able to leave the nest and start a life of his own. You may want to send over the odd care package for the first little while but he'll be a hanger on forever if you don't suggest that maybe it's time he get his own place. If he doesn't take the hint inform him of a date that he is to be out by and stick to it.

Unless he's at home for a very good reason - i.e. saving money to buy a house, I think its best for him to move out.
It's for his own well being, he's missing out on some of the best years of his life by staying at home. Home is a safe place to be, but after a certain age, it is not the place where a boy grows into a man.

yes with the exception of being in ill health (sounds like this is not the case) or if he is in school full time. Otherwise, I'd say he might not realize it, but this is harming him, not to take responsibilty for his own life, and if he isn't suggesting that he wants to do that...you need to suggest it to him. You can be more than fair by saying "we want to help you grow even further and that means your taking the step of being responsible to pay your bills, live on your own. Please start planning for this, and we will help you with the planning steps if you need help, because we want this to start as of (let's say two months from now, maybe three). " And then remind him one month out...and stick to it, even if it means packing his stuff for him and storing it and moving him to the Y!!

Yes...unless he's going to college full time, he should move on. It's his time to be an adult. He needs to get a job and start being responsible.

Whichever fits your desire. It's YOUR home. He can either leave........or stay and pull his own weight. It's not a matter of having to leave, but rather being a responsible adult, WHERE EVER he lives.

I definitely think it's time for him to make his own way in life. He should have already wanted to go. You need to help him get a job and save up for his own apartment.
