I know to get rid of ego, I need to meditate, get busy, etc. But I already have came to the stage where i don't have any ego. However, every now and then, I develop it when I have happiness in a streak. I guess what I am asking is that is there a check up I can do to see weather I have ego? You know like symptoms of it?

We have a real ego and a false ego. The false ego is falsly identifying with this mind and body. We are not this IE; race, color, nationality, religion, mind, senses, intellect, job, etc. We are eternal spirit souls, part and parcel of the Supreme Soul, also known as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, etc. The only way to develop or real identity is to be in constant contact with the above. The quickest and easies way to reconnect and come to our constitutional position is to chant the Maha Mantra (the great mantra for deliverance from suffering and illusion. go to krishnaculture. for details and read Bhagavad Gita As it is By Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada Gives all knowledge on ego and the purpose of human life.

When people around you start compalining you don't listen to them much. Look for people complaining around you and also give you a feeling like lets leave him alone kind off signals.
Any case all of us have -some a bit some a lot - we are humans after all.
(Ps:Listening does meant keeping on agreeing to others - check some good write ups on internet for listening in the area of psychology )
