I would say it is the birth control pills. My doctor told me that I would gain weight when I started them but I actually did the opposite because for the first four months I threw up nonstop! Now, I'm completely fine (that was a couple years ago). So, without other symptoms it's probably the pills. The change in hormones can cause weight gain (much like it would in pregnancy). Although just to be safe, you can take a pregnancy test. Birth control shouldn't affect the results.

Hi
The first important sign is " Amenorrhea" meaning missing your periods. ( although ectopic pregnancy may cause bleeding like normal cycle or just irregular or just spotting )
The other symptoms include " morning sickness" i.e. having nauseating feelings or real vomiting. Then comes breast tenderness or feeling of fullness but it usually comes late.
Average weight gain in normal pregnancy is approximately 1 to 1.5 pound per month ( I am not pretty sure....but positive )
However, weight gain can be more or less depending on certain other conditions like diabetes or poor socio-economic conditions and social set up and most importantly stress factor. Stress can induce or increase appetite or decrease it. Both are possible.

For you to have an idea that what's going on....Just do the pregnancy test. It will resolve the problem.
N.B. Sever stress of any kind, even the thoughts of having unwanted pregnancy can cause a " amenorrhea" ie stoppage of normal menstruation. So please keep this factor also in mind.

Feeling depressed can be related to so many or multiple causes.
It is now proven fact that fluctuation of hormones do cause feeling of being blue or down during normal menstruation and periods of laziness and being lethargic.
If you feel depressed, clinically or non-clinically, first take a pregnancy test and then ask me in the context of the result.

Regards:
