"The merchant once crossed Arabia with precious merchandise/goods. Among the goods were Chinese (or silk) garments and ivory tusks. He had also many servants [or slaves, depending on circumstances] who guarded the merchandise. Suddenly robbers, who had been lying in ambush, made an attack. The merchant and the servants/slaves resisted the robbers fiercely, but finally the robbers overpowered the servants/slaves. Then the robbers escaped with the servants/slaves as well as with the merchant’s goods. They left the merchant unconscious."
