My thoughts on this is "Who cares". It is only a ceremonial swearing in The official swearing in is done before that as a group with no props. This is nothing more than a photo op for the Congressman.
I also think it is a good statement that he is using a holy book for his faith that was once owned by one of the founding fathers of his country.

I think it would be helpful if more Americans followed Jefferson's example and read the Quran.

I guess if he's a muslim whats the point of having him sworn in on a Bible if he doesn't believe in it. Honestly I believe this is a non issue. As long as he puts the best interest of his constituents ahead of his religous beliefs then things should be fine, after all they elected him.

If there is one thing that we learned from President Clinton, it is that swearing an oath means nothing. You can lie under oath and not be punished if you are rich and powerful enough. Politicians are the best examples of that. They might as well use comic books, as previously suggested by another person.

I think it should be his choice. If he believe the Quran as his holy book than that is the one on which he should take his oath.

If this book is the one which he considers holy, then there is nothing wrong.

A holy book is a holy book....as long as you believe what is written in it.
