The Mayan Long Count calendar rolls over from 12 Baktuns to 13 Baktuns on 12-21-2012. Some people think this means the calendar is "ending" (which is stupid; time and calendars don't end) and therefore the world must be ending.
It's the same drama that happened around 1999-2000. People who don't have enough excitment in their lives have to make things up.
