they are a lot more difficult to maintain... if you're going to start a salt water tank you should have some experience with freshwater first and start off with a hardier fish such as a damsel... saltwater fish are a LOT less forgiving for mistakes... be careful to not let the pH, salinity, or temp to change too quickly... 'cause it causes a lot more stress on them than it does on freshwater fish... their natural environment is much more stable than freshwater so they can't handle sudden changes as easily as freshwater or brackish fish... you also need to think about live sand and live rock to help with biological filtration... a tank is much more difficult to maintain w/o it... it can get pricey though...

From what I understand saltwater aquariums are a little more difficult to maintain than freshwater. There is also a considerable amount of money that also goes into maintaining a saltwater tank. The fish are very beautiful but are also VERY expensive. If you do decide to start a saltwater tank, I suggest starting out with cheaper fish such as clown fish. If you are able to maintain the tank successfully and the clown fish survive for quite some time, then I would say it is safe to buy more expensive fish granted that they aren't sick. Good luck and hope this helps! :)

No, but they are much more expensive comparing to fresh water fish. Just make sure you get a "dirty fish" so the tank can contaminate that should help your fish not die right away. Good luck.

It depends on the fish, but generally they are a little bit harder than freshwater, if that's what you mean. It's not all that hard though, just a little extra work to keep the salinity correct.
