Wow you notice animals behaviour a lot. But I always thought (in general) when animals do this, it has more to do with social structure, as in submissiveness to head dog, cat etc., maybe as in they recognize their human owner as a member of the pack, and defer to them as head of family, or higher standing than themself.

They're not confused, you probably change your tone of voice, in other words if you talk in high voice or in a happy voice then their head will tilt because they think they're going to get something like a toy, a treat, or various things. Bye Bye

Humans do it too. Great question. maybe it has to do with hearing (not sure what was heard), or maybe just a natural mammal reaction to trying to understand something.

Not sure... maybe they want to see it from a different point of view...lol
But they sure are cute... I have 2 cats (Puss and Boots) and they do it all of the time :-)

I asked my dog why she turned her head to the side and the only response was her turning her head to the side.

I guess they do it on instinct... maybe they make their beans rattle around to jog some thoughts. lol

Animals don't have vocal chords like us so they resort to body language and that is there way of saying "What?"

They are not confused. They can hear better that way. They are just "paying attention" to you.
