Why Do People Masturbate?
In addition to feeling good, masturbation is a good way of relieving the sexual tension that can build up over time, especially for people without partners or whose partners are not willing or available for sex. Masturbation also is a safe sexual alternative for people who wish to avoid pregnancy and the dangers of sexually transmitted diseases. It also is necessary when a man must give a semen sample for infertility testing or for sperm donation. When sexual dysfunction is present in an adult, masturbation may be prescribed by a sex therapist to allow a person to experience an orgasm (often in women) or to delay its arrival (often in men).
Is Masturbation Normal?
While it once was regarded as a perversion and a sign of a mental problem, masturbation now is regarded as a normal, healthy sexual activity that is pleasant, fulfilling, acceptable and safe. It is a good way to experience sexual pleasure and can be done throughout life.
Masturbation is only considered a problem when it inhibits sexual activity with a partner, is done in public, or causes significant distress to the person. It may cause distress if it is done compulsively and/or interferes with daily life and activities.
Is Masturbation Harmful?
In general, the medical community considers masturbation to be a natural and harmless expression of sexuality for both men and women. It does not cause any physical injury or harm to the body, and can be performed in moderation throughout a person's lifetime as a part of normal sexual behavior. Some cultures and religions oppose the use of masturbation or even label it as sinful. This can lead to guilt or shame about the behavior.
Some experts suggest that masturbation can actually improve sexual health and relationships. By exploring your own body through masturbation, you can determine what is erotically pleasing to you and can share this with your partner. Some partners use mutual masturbation to discover techniques for a more satisfying sexual relationship and to add to their mutual intimacy.

No matter what anyone says, it is normal to a point. Doing it alot can be a sign of sexual addiction (as they call it). Most people do it even if they don't admit it. Women do it even when they think there not. Women that are having sexual intercourse, will at time rub there clitoris, this is a form of masturbation, don't feel guilty. Just be care-full of your motives while doing it.

Yes it is normal. My 12 and 11 yo both do it and have since shown my 7yo who dropped his pants and masturbated in front of guests at a New Years party during a game of "Truth or Dare" they were playing with friends. They showed him how to do it. Don't feel guilty, just do it in private behind closed doors. No embarrassment for you or your parents trying to explain the situation to others. Also, don't use abrasive soaps on the penis, just soft lubricants like Vasaline

Yes it is normal and perfectly fine, provided that you do it privately. It is a form of release. I guess it doesn't matter what age you are as I believe you are reaching puberty already.
However, if you need to masturbate a lot of times a day and/or masturbate in front of 'unwilling' audience, then there is definitely something wrong with you.

it is extremely normal. I heard that virtually everyone in this world does it. Male and female.Religious influence has made us feel guilty about it.Thats all. In time you will find a compatible partner and you don't have to do it any more. I very much prefer the real thing.

just because everybody is doing it doesn't mean that it's normal. Listen to me.....you are only 12 years old and you are abusing your body. Another word for masturbation is selfish abuse...it's a sin
If you want to avoid future health problems you must stop masturbating now! If you keep doing it, you can develop an array of health problems. This act is very addictive so don't let it get a hold of you.

Perfectly normal. You will probably continue to masturbate all your life. Even when you get to be in a relationship, you will still masturbate occasionally.
It is one of life's greatest pleasures. Just about everyone does it, whether they admit it or not.
Please have a look at this site: www.jackinworld.com
This will tell you all you need to know. Enjoy.

Yeah, everybody does it (well, ok, not the uber-Christians... or at least they won't admit to it). It is a perfectly normal thing, and some doctors say that if you don't do it, it blocks up tubes in your penis, causing problems. Go ahead... it's not anything to feel bad about. Oh, and it won't make you go blind.
