Hi everyone. I'm a South American currently living in the United States as an asylee (refugee). I applied for my green card half a year ago; I'm still waiting for it to come in.
I turn 18 in four days, and my friends want to take me clubbing. The thing is, I can't prove I'm 18!
They wouldn't let me get a Driver's License or a State ID because I didn't have enough identification. Isn't that messed up? But my passport and my Refugee Travel Document have been expired for years. I want to renew them, but it's so expensive.
One of my friends mentioned using my birth certificate. It's in Spanish, but I do have a translation. Oh, and I also have my social security number, to prove I'm not an illegal. I also have a school ID; but it doesn't have my birth date on it. I don't know if any of this helps, though.
I just want to have a fun time on my 18th b-day! Please help...

It sounds like the birth certificate (Spanish and English versions) plus the school ID should be enough.
You might use your SS card to, but beware here. You might open yourself up to identity theft.
Alternative: have the party in a friend's home, or go to a concert.

Somewhere in the documents is your birth certificate , which is all you should need for the state ID.
Does the passport have your birth date ?
Expired is only relevant if you want to travel, as proof of age it should be adequate.
PS: Teenagers clubbing are often given rupees or other date rape drugs (which are amnesiatic) so I hope you don't end with mystery STDs or a baby from this.

The birth certificate is the best evidence of your age. Thus, always bring a copy of it accompanied by any valid ID so that you can present it to anybody who questions your age.

Put on a big, fake beard. Don't worry about having ID. Good luck!

get in bed with em. they can tell cus they no. Or u can just go get your birth certificate and show them it with your drivers license and stuffs
