Yes he is gay, and I think he and Megan are the funniest on the show...but then the premise of the show would have changed...I just wish Megan's talk show was a bit better...

Sean Hayes has never publicly stated whether he's gay or not. He doesn't want his personal life to affect his professional life. He's said that if he plays Gay, he wants it to believable, and if he's playing a Straight Character, he wants that to be believable.
I've heard plenty of speculation that he's gay, because of the character he portrays in Will & Grace, but some say he's married with children.
I guess the only person that truly knows is Sean himself, and those closest to him.

Sean Hayes doesn't comment on his sexual preference though it is widely believed that he is gay. He is not married. Eric McCormack (who played Will on the show) is the actor who is happily married with children.

No. Actually a few years ago he was arrested for trying to beat a man up at a shopping center for calling him gay.

Yeah, he was always my favorite. I don't know if he is gay or not, but in real life he is not that way at all, he is actually quite manly.
