The chances of getting pregnant a couple of days before your period are very slim. You have the best chance of getting pregnant during and around the time you ovulate. You typically ovulate on day 14 of your cycle. (That's 14 days from first day of your period.) If you have longer than a 28 day cycle you can ovulate later. After you ovulate the chance of getting pregnant decreases dramatically.

If you somehow get pregnant three days before your period you might get a lighter than normal period. You might even get a light period the next month as well.

A blood test from your doctor can tell whether you are pregnant or not. They are more sensitive than over the counter ones.
