No. It's supposed to keep you from getting more clogged but it won't undo any damage. Only certain dark, red wines have any benefit. Rose and white wines are useless for cardiac benefit. Also, you have to be very careful with wine therapy. Too much wine (more than 4oz per day) will actually damage the heart muscle.

Not specifically. Alcohol has been shown to decrease disease and death by all causes when taken in moderation. Moderation = 1-12 drinks of any alcohol per week. Red wine, brown beer do not have any proven extra benefit. Scotch, vodka, white wine, light beer, seem to all be equal. A 'drink' is defined as 12oz of beer OR 6oz of wine OR 1oz of spirits. Also human veins don't become clogged in the way you imply. Blood clots do form in veins and this is serious, but you seem to be implying the calcium/cholesterol laden plaques that clog arteries, not veins.

There is lots of evidence that red wines help fight cholesterol. The French have a very rich diet - and one of the lowest incidence of coronary problems in the world..... at least, that is how I understand it!!!
