it depends where you live in NY....I'm in buffalo NY ....in the past at this time the lake is usually freezing over..but in recent years the lake hat not been freezing due to warmer temps...we get 2 to 3 feet from regular snow....meaning moisture from normal fronts but we are known by our lake effect snow... cold air passing over warm lake..can make 5-6 inches a hour in snow belt....o couple of years ago the lake was very warm and we got over eight feet of snow yes i said eight .... it doesn't seem like a big number, but when your looking up and its 2 feet + over your head .... its alot...and remember that's natural snow fall not piled ...the cool thing is its so light and fluffy you can run in to it leaving tunnels like a mole

i live in ny and yes usually its snowing this time of year.
