Roberta Flack 'Kiling Me Softly"*
Wow- you Must be young!
* The Fugees did a hip hop (& less sentimental) version back in the 90s.

There are two different artists...the original was "Killing Me Softly" by Roberta Flack, done in the 70's...in the 90's, Lauryn Hill and the Refugees did a remake of the song. I personally like the original.

"Killing Me Softly" originally sung by Roberta Flack, later redone by The Fugee's. I freakin' love this song, by the way!

"Killing Me Softly" done by Roberta Flack
And it was written by Lori Lieberman, who sang the song originally, but it was Flack who had the hit.

the song is killing me me softly
the one i remember was sung by roberta flack
music by Charles Fox and lyrics by Norman Gimbel
recorded by Roberta Flack
also recorded by The Fugees
I heard he sang a good song
I heard he had a style
And so I came to see him
To listen for awhile
And there he was this young boy,
A stranger to my eyes
He was ...
Strumming my pain with his fingers
Singing my life with his words
Killing me softly with his song
Killing me softly with his song
Telling my whole life with his words
Killing me softly, with his song
I felt all flushed with fever
Embarrassed by the crowd
I felt he found my letters
And read each one out loud
I prayed that he would finish
But he just kept right on
Strumming my pain with his fingers
Singing my life with his words
Killing me softly with his song
Killing me softly with his song
Telling my whole life with his words
Killing me softly, with his song
He sang as if he knew me
In all my dark despair
And then he looked right through me
As if I wasn't there
But he was there this stranger
Singing clear and strong
He was...
Strumming my pain with his fingers
Singing my life with his words
Killing me softly with his song
Killing me softly with his song
Telling my whole life with his words
Killing me softly with his song
wooh, wooh woh, etc.

Perry Como Killing Me Softly With Her Song Lyrics
I heard she sang a good song,
I heard she had a style,
And so I came to see her,
To listen for a while . . .
And there she was this young girl,
A stranger to my eyes . . .
Strummin' my pain with her fingers,
Singin' my life with her words,
Killing me softly with her song,
Killing me softly, with her song,
Telling my whole life with her words,
Killing me softly, with her song . . .
I felt all flushed with fever,
Embarrassed by the crowd,
I felt she found my letters,
And read each one aloud . . .
I prayed that she would finish,
But she just kept right on . . .
Strummin' my pain with her fingers,
Singin' my life with her words,
Killing me softly with her song,
Killing me softly, with her song,
Telling my whole life with her words,
Killing me softly, with her song . . .
She sang as if she knew me,
In all my dark despair,
And then she looked right through me,
As if I wasn't there . . .
But she was there, this stranger,
Singing clear and strong . . .
Strummin' my pain with her fingers,
Singin' my life with her words,
Killing me softly with her song,
Killing me softly, with her song,
Telling my whole life with her words,
Killing me softly, with her song . . .
Killing me softly, with her song . . .

There's two different artists. The original artist is Diana Ross, and the cover artist is Lauren Hill from the Fugues.
