It was somehow derived from the fact that it was built off the LH platform. The first generation LHS was a top of the line New Yorker. In 1999 it became a more traditional luxury car alternative to the sportier 300M. I had a second generation LHS and loved it. It was a fantastic car and they still look beautiful today.
