Servant, the President serves at the pleasure of the people.

Not completely a servant. In times of crisis America has long looked to the President for leadership, but the moment the Prez starts talking about raising taxes or getting rid of a public program, the people are always demanding for the opposite. So it depends on the situation--I lean towards leader who has to share some basic values with the people he serves.... if that makes sense.

Yes, in my opinion the President is a public servant. He is paid by our tax dollars and therefore is where he is because of being chosen by the people. He is supposed to serve the best interest of the American people. The Amerian people are his boss. Yes, I know this concept is frowned upon in Washington, but people need to rethink this because it is the truth! We hire presidents with our votes. We should be able to call them into account for a poor job performance! Where are the politicians that want to serve this great country and people?

The president is elected by the people (most of the time) and he is there to serve. However, he is also supposed to be the leader. Signs of being a good leader is to evaluate information then act on it. He must be decisive and clear in his thinking. Not to be confused with stubborn and unbending. The president has advisors to whom he should listen. The president is surrounded by people to assist him every day.
And while he is elected by the people, he is elected to do a job. therefore, while he is there to serve, he is also there to lead.

Leader

We elect the president (those that vote for him) because we like what he stands for. We can't agree with everything that he may do. If he tried to serve everyone, he'd always end up disappointing a large portion of the country. We vote him and and hope he leads us the way we wish to be lead. I don't agree with half of the stuff that most of the presidents I've voted for have done in office, but I know he's not going to change his policies or beliefs because of me. (If that were the case, we'd have begun leaving Iraq...and I voted for him)
