how does it work?
is it worth the price?
will it work on future firmwares?
can someone please explain to me in their own words how the psp mod chip works? i've already read the articles on the psp mod chip but i would like opinions from its users and other stuff.

Unless you have experience with mod chips and soldering, don't even try the PSP modchip. Although I've never personally tried it, I've looked into it.

The nice things about it is that it allows you to downgrade to other firmwares, no matter what firmware you're at now. This would then open up all homebrew games and programs for you to use. It does this by allowing you a different boot method, or another way for the PSP to start up.

To activate it, you hold down the left shoulder button when it is powering up. Then, it will take you to the mod chip's firmware, which can be set at any version you like meanwhile your original PSP's firmware is untouched and able to be upgraded as high as you please.

The bad thing about it is that you have to open up your PSP and therefore void your warranty. If you're not worried about the warranty, be worried about the assembly of the PSP. It's not easy to get open, as I have learned from experience.

Also, it ranges in cost and yet all of them seem rather high. Given the risks you'll be taking, I don't think it is worth it. As much as you may want to get the mod chip, it's better to just stick with what you have now.

Hope this helps you out
