This nation was established after the lands were secured from the nomadic people that lived here that had no nation established, no borders, no inherent rule of law. This was not a nation when the American Indian lived here but a piece of land on which they lived. A country is more than just geography, it is a rule of law government, it is an economic system. But you will never understand this so try this:

You are the Indian and the Mexicans are the European conquerors, do you want to live on a reservation? Or do you want this great country to turn in to Tijuana?

Most Americans were born here and had ancestors who either immigrated lawfully or prior to the enactment of our immigration laws.

By the way, our immigration laws protect ALL people on US soil from disease and criminality. I have 350 people on my caseload... probably 35% are hispanic. A large number of those are illegals... and the vast majority of those have tuberculosis. Also, we have no idea what their criminal history was in Mexico...

Lawful immigration is awesome! Anybody who wants to come here lawfully is free to do so!! How great is that??? Unlawful immigration? HUGE problem...

Sorry, but you're mistaken. The vast majority of Americans who migrated here from Europe from the 1700's to the 1900's were legally documented at the Immigration Station at Ellis Island, NY. But it is true, of course, that unless you're a Native American, you are an immigrant. (And even they, technically, are immigrants too, since they came here from Asia via the Bering Straits land bridge about 12,000 years ago. As far as why people blame illegal aliens for their troubles, I suppose some of it is justified, since the aliens do drive up our tax rates, since the government pays for their welfare and health care benefits --for those that apply--and also has to pay the Border Patrol agents to try and stop them. With so many legal Americans needing government assistance and living in poverty, why should our government's already over-taxed social programs be stretched to the breaking point for illegals? While it's true that the majority of illegals are hardworking and do not apply for welfare, it only takes a small percentage of them to give the rest a bad image. Also, I suppose its human nature to always look to oustsiders to blame their troubles at home on.

Leave out the "illegal" in the second "illegal immigrants" and we can talk.

Really, a lot of people are blatant racists who dislike brown people with different facial feature characteristics and accents. They are hiding their racism very shrewdly, for the sake of respectability, behind the "illegal" part.

Some of my best friends are from other cultures and countries, and I worry about them every night, thinking of hate crimes and racism resurging in America. It's "okay" to be a racist pig in America once again.

-----If a president sets the moral tone of a nation, Bush has some explaining to do about why the worst in human nature is resurging during his watch.

I don't care if people immigrate to the US. As long as they do it legally. It doesn't seem fair that some people have to work thier butts off to earn citizenship while some can just cross the borders and settle down. Does that seem fair to you?

As for us "all" being illegal immigrants. Nice try but my grandparents came her legally.

Illegal immigrants are hated because they show more determination and promise than those who were born here and that makes them resented.

I'm not. I was born here. Oh, you mean some of our ancestors . . . as if I'm responsible for what someone else did 200 or 300 years ago. Sheesh, I wasn't even here. Next thing you'll be blaming me for my Davis ancestors owning slaves in North Carolina.

Really?
Show me one place the people who lived here before the Pilgrims arrived had a law in place against settlers/immigration.
Nonsensical arguments like that really make you lose credibility.
