i have two lights on a staircase;one at the bottom one at the top.the light at the bottom wants to be 2 way switched with the light upstairs, but also both lights need to be independently switched,at the moment they are wired as 2 one way switches , what do i need to do?? i can easily wire between switches

you can not do as you say,, this would require two power sources and would blow the !ooops! out of everything.. you can make it so that both lights are on or off or one switch controls one light but not the way your thinking,, it won't work,, booom, zap, zowie

I am not sure what you are talking about. Are you talking about wiring the lights so you can turn them off at both the top and bottom if the stairs?
If that is what you are talking about you are going to need two three way switches first. Then you are going to have to run two runners between the two lights switches.
Then you run one hot wire to one of the switches. On the other switch you run the wire to the lights.
You will have to look on the switch's box to see which lug goes where because it seems like every time I buy three way switches they are different than the ones I used last time.

Call in an electrician, cause you have no idea what you are talking about. From the goofy description, what you want can only be performed by GOD.
