Please no trash talking here. But I'm kind of frustrated towards the fact that people say rap should be isolated only to african-americans in the united states. why is that? why does it matter if whites or asian-americans can rap too? i've heard white people making fun of asian rappers saying they shouldnt be rapping cuz it's a music for black people. how come they don't give a sh** about blacks or asians being a rocker when it's normally for white people music? try to reverse it ... race does not matter. all we care for is good music.

I dont- as long as you are good... Anyone can rap if they are good. but please... save us from the K-FED's and VANILLA ICE'S!!!.. They SUCK!!!

Now Eminem---- he is a very good white rapper... worthy of all respect that he gets!!

AS far as asian- i have no comments on them because i have never heard one rap...

AND BTW- Lenny Kravitz is black- he is a rocker... and Charlie Pride, who is also black, is a country music singer...

Theres a couple reasons theres the sterotype that rapping is only for black people, for one reason black people were the ones who made rap and were the only ones doing it for a while. Back in the day when rap actually meant something you pretty much had to come from the toilet to have meaningful rhymes and majority of the people in the ghetto are either latino or black, im not saying there aint no asians or whites in the ghetto, but there aint too much. So this sterotype got most people thinking only blacks can be good rappers, which eminem proves wrong and shows race dont matter.

Because every black person i've talked to says that Rap is their music. They can keep it for all I care. Any rapper sounds like an idiot to me. Let the blacks keep pulling themselves farther and farther away fom being socially acceptable. I know some white guys who can rap well but the black guys who hear them always trash talk them saying they're trying to be black. whatever.

If you care for good music, you can't include Rap (or as I call it, Retards Attempting Poetry).
Why some people believe only certain people should Rap is because Rap is the only form of music (if you can call it music) that requires no talent or skill. Any moron with a microphone and a drum machine can do it.
Even singing (which also requires little skill) does require a good voice, a good ear, and a certain amount of talent.
Playing an instrument takes both talent AND skill AND practice...something rappers are not able or willing to invest.

Because they link rap music to degrading, unhealthy, and dangerous music. They think only the black people should act this way so they can continue to say that only black people act unruly. They don't want anybody else to be in that category because that would mess up their steryotype of blacks

When I see a white person rapping for some reason I think it's kind of funny because usally I would only see a black person doing it. To me it just depends if the person can rap.

lets face it, hip hop has enveloped our country. its not only music but a style as well. i think the reason people associate r&b/rap/hip hop w/blacks is because blacks are the one who created it. maybe black people feel like whites do not know the history of this music and that others cant identify.

Rap is not something that should be practiced by even blacks. It is a base, low class kind of entertainment that came from the streets as a protest and is an example of people getting rich on being dumbed down--and who perpetuate the dumbing down of America, not to mention, the disrespect of women and authority. Why would you want to follow that example? People as a whole, should crawl back out of the gutters of the planet and seek a higher ground.

Well rap started in black culture, so many people think it should stay that way. Kind of like how things that were originally meant to be just for men eventually spread to women. (Basketball, baseball, jobs, etc.)

I think it goes back to the roots of our history. Blacks have had every type of music stolen from them and "claimed" by whites. I hate to break it to you, but blacks were the originators of all of our music, except country. Rock and roll was started by the blacks...Elvis stole it from them. Blues = blacks....look in your history, whites aren't that original, just more accepted.
