this is my first month on birth control (ortho tri-cyclen) and i'm currently on the placebo pills. i'm bleeding like crazy! it's very heavy and i'm going through pads like a mad women. ever since i took placebo pill number 3 it's been bad. am i suppose to bleed this badly every month while on the placebo pills?!?!? is this normal? or is it just my bodys reaction to the pill? or...is there another reason?

i also had breakthrough bleeding. pretty much i didn't pass a day without seeing some red spots ever since i started the pills

Yes, it is normal to heavily bleed when you first start the pill. It is your body getting used to the pill.

It will calm down and get to normal within 6 months.

If it's your first month on birth control, it's possible your period would be different from normal. I assume you didn't have any bleeding while you were taking the "regular" pills (so-called "breakthrough" bleeding). I agree with the previous poster, though, that you should check with your doctor. And no, it's not normal to bleed that heavily while on the pill. If anything, once your body gets used to it, your periods should be lighter.

It is not normal to bleed that much all the time.
GO TO A DOCTOR.....and tell the doctor about this bleeding problem...
