I am a travel agent and do many destination weddings.

No matter where you decide to get married, PLEASE, do not try to do it yourself. Every major Caribbean destination/resort has a wedding planning staff - their services are invaluable - I've seen couples become terribly stressed that have not used a planner.

Now, on to the question you asked - the best place. If your guests are all adults (no one under 18 permitted) I would recommend any of the three Sandals resorts on St. Lucia. If you've got some kids in the mix, just forget about Sandals, but look at other resorts on the island. Other "favorites" spots are: Punta Cana (Dominican Republic), Riviera Maya (south of Cancun, Mexico), and St. Thomas, (US Virgin Islands). The big advantage with St. Thomas, is that is a US territory and if you get married there, it considered to be in the US!

The only other pieces of advice I would leave with you are #1) use a travel agent that has experience working with destination weddings and wedding planners; #2) a more "upscale" and "all-inclusive" resort seems to yield the best, easiest, most memorable results.

Congratulations and enjoy the planning!

After I looked into the cost of weddings...We decided to get married on Couples resort in Ocho Rios. They also have a location in Negril. I just brought my tixx...which was all inclusive to the resort. The travel agent asked which day...they held it. Once we arrived, the next day, we walked the grounds, picked a location, a picture package, flowers and pd $ 15,000.00 Jamaican dollars...(US $ 250.00) give or take a few and the pictures and flowers were extra...the entire trip cost us about 5k...and it was a done deal. I met many couples who were on their honeymoon that said...had they of known, they would of did what we did. It was different, beautiful and the least expensive way to go. I am from PR so I wanted a beach wedding....and this was perfect. Cannot wait till 2009 for our renups for 10 years. GOOD LUCK !

In Jamaica almost all of the resorts do weddings all of the time and they are very good at them. Many couples get married there. What they do is up to the resort but most have a gazebo (or some other structure) near the beach where they perform the weddings. Who can go depends on the resort. Some of those do not allow kids but other than that there are no limitations. Check out resorts at TripAdvisor.com and you can contact them directly.

i might advise you slender it right down to three places the place you may desire to get married in the Caribbean. look into the internet and seek weddings in the Caribbean or on particular islands (case in point a marriage on between the islands in the Bahamas). once you discover a area which you like you may get in touch with a marriage planner. they have some resorts that furnish wedding ceremony planners for you that co ordinate a area on your ceremony and reception. they're the terrific human beings that can assist you you because of the fact they stay there and that they comprehend what the regulations are, the regulations for paying for married, the place you may hire particular issues ect. they are able that can assist you you place each and every thing up so once you get there issues are prepared and you wont be overwhelmed with not understanding the place to get issues, a thank you to get issues executed and what to do. certainly one of my acquaintances have been given married in the Bahamas on the coastline. She have been given in touch with a marriage planner there and the planner did each and every thing right down to the final element. it replaced right into a small wedding ceremony the bridesmaids wore those gorgeous tiffany blue outfits and then the marriage celebration went to a attractive coastline facet eating place. each and every thing from the flower in her hair, music to the centerpieces and nutrition on the eating place replaced into prepared via the planner. All she had to do replaced into get there and luxuriate in her day.
