Emotionally it's much harder on us when someone touches upon something that we know is true.
It's very difficult to defend ourselves against it.

The first one, of course. If someone talks badLY about you, then the fact that it is a lie should be of some condolence, that is if you're the type of person who cares what other people say about him/her (because you think that they are talking "bad" about you, and you title it "bad", i'll assume you do). Someone's talking bs about you, you're fine because your close friends will probably figure out right from wrong (if this is a political thing, then go on the defense, throw in some snide character remarks and get back to the issues). However, if someone is telling the truth: that you are a mud-slinging jerk-wad from the middle of no where, then chances are that you're in it so much deeper than you realize and that's when you will truly sink.

Neither. If people talk bad about you and it is the truth, hopefully it will help you become a better person. If people talk bad about you and it is a lie, then you can prove it wrong. You know what-probably the first-because you are what they are talking about.

people talking bad about me and it is true, because that would mean I am a bad person. So it would be a double edged sword. If it is not true the people who matter would know the truth and the people who said it and believed it wouldn't matter anyway!!

Some people have no life the fact that that they would talk lies about you says nothing for them & the fact that they would thrive on your misfortune is worse. They ( the repeater regardless of what it is) are the WORSE.

Im not about people talking about others at all.......but if I had to choose, I would say telling lies about someone behind their back is horrible...
